Queens Park Golf Course is council run and has beautiful greens which are very well maintained. If you are wanting to test yourself then this is a good course as there is some tough terrain and each hole is different, making you really have to think about your moves. There are a full 18 holes for you to get around which is great for fitness, however, if you prefer you can hire a golf buggy.
There is a Golf Shop which offers the normal purchase of golf accessories. The bar is fairly basic but does have all the normal refreshments, including alcohol and food. They also have a TV to sit back and enjoy some more sports. On those days the sun is shining you can enjoy your drink on the balcony. The bar is kept clean and the service is good and friendly. The downstair bar is open between April and October which gives good access to wheelchair users, however, the upstairs bar is unfortunately not accessible to wheelchair users.
Although the golf course itself is a great course it unfortunately does have a drawback. The course is on common land and is open to the public. This meaning that anyone can wander on to the course, which you do find many dog walkers roaming across the course at their leisurely pace, so you may have to hold off on that shot until they’ve passed!
The grounds are very pretty with plenty of woodland around, a lake and some lovely paths to have a walk. There are picnic facilities should you wish to enjoy the outdoors some more and there will also be a children's play area soon.
The prices are very reasonable for golf, starting at £10 a round. You can pay and play or if you are a more frequent visitor you can purchase a season pass as reduced rates. You can book online or call 01202 451675 to reserve your tee time.
